With an Aboriginal population of 3,164 the Grampians region accounts for approximately 7% of Victoria’s total Aboriginal population.
A RAJAC Executive Officer works across the region’s eleven Local Government Areas: Ararat, Ballarat, Golden plains, Hepburn, Hindmarsh, Horsham, Moorabool, Northern Grampians, Pyrenees, West Wimmera, and Yarriambiack.
There are two prisons located in the Grampians region: Langi Kal Kal prison and Hopkins Prison. A full suite of justice services are offered from the Horsham Justice Service Centre and Ballarat Regional Office.

Johnny Gorton is a descendent of the Wotjobaluk people. He is seen as a leader in his community through his work and advocacy at Goolum Goolum in Horsham. Johnny has spent the last 20 years working in various roles at Goolum and is currently in the senior executive team as well as being a board member of the organisation since 2009. Johnny was also the chairperson for 10 of those years. He has been a member of the Grampians RAJAC for over 10 years and also been a member of different committees locally, regionally and statewide. He is currently a board member at Barengi Gadjin Land Council as the representative for his family group. Johnny also sits on the Horsham Rural City Councils and Grampians Health First Nations advisory committees, ALIGN Victoria first nations committee and has been a previous board member at VACCHO and also been member of the Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership committee.
